Lot Essay

The present cast is a bronze reduction of the marble figure from the base of Pech's 1908 'Monument to Charles Perrault' in the Tuileries Gardens. A bust of Perrault is mounted on a tapering pedestal, below which the author's favourite creation, Puss'n Boots, swaggers in true musketeer fashion, while three adoring schoolgirls encircle the other side.
