A CONTINENTAL SILVER COMMERATIVE TANKARD, probably late 19th Century, cylindrical, on circular foliate chased base on three ball feet, the lower part of the body chased with lobes, and applied three times with female mask enclosed by cast foliate scrolls, the upper part swirling fluted chased at intervals with broad leaf, with angular tubular handle, the flat hinged cover with brass thumbpiece and dished center, the border finely engraved with ARGYLLSHIRE (Guards) and their Napoleonic campaigns within thistles--9¼in. (23.4cm.) high, gross weight 32.5oz.
