A LOUIS XVI SILVER SUGAR BOWL, COVER AND STAND
PARIS, 1788, MAKER'S MARK OF JEAN-LOUIS-DIEUDONNE OUTREBON
The circular bowl on four foliate scroll feet, with two foliate scroll and rocaille handles, flat-chased with foliate swags, tied ribbons and oval husk cartouches, one enclosing accolé coats-of-arms under a coronet; the domed cover chased with a band of flutes under a band of similar flat-chased decoration, with strawberry-form finial, engraved with the same arms; the shaped circular stand with conforming decoration within an ovolo rim, engraved with the same arms, marked on bowl, cover and stand; struck with the charge and discharge of Jean-Baptiste Fouache and Dominique Compant, also struck with later control marks--length over handles 7in. (17.5cm.); diam. of stand 7½in. (19cm.)
