A CHARLES II SILVER CASTOR
LONDON, 1677, MAKER'S MARK OF FRANCIS GARTHORNE

Of large size, the cylindrical body on a spreading foot applied with a band of ropetwist, the bayonet fitting high domed cover applied with a similar ropetwist band and pierced above with fleurs-de-lys, hearts and scrolls, the top applied with a cut-card calyx of scrolls and hearts, with baluster finial, marked on body and cover--7 5/8in. (19.5cm.) high
