A STAFFORDSHIRE SLIPWARE DISH
CIRCA 1710, BY SAMUEL MALKIN

The cream slip ground with St. George in dark and pale-brown slip astride a dark-brown charger slaying the dark and pale-brown slip winged dragon, inscribed in raised script St George & Dragon within an arched-rectangular brown slip surround, surmounted by pale-brown scrolls and a cross, signed S*M in raised letters beneath the horse, within a piecrust-moulded rim--14in. (35.5cm.) diam.
