Lot Essay

After spending her childhood living on a farm, Johnson studied in New York under Hermon Atkins MacNeil and Gutzon Borglum. She exhibited in the Armory show, the Paris Salon of 1910 and with the National Sculpture Society as well as in several independent shows, winning public and critical notice for her animalier works.
