BLUE INTERLACED L MARKS ENCLOSING THE DATE LETTERS B & C FOR 1754 AND 1755, TWO SAUCERS BY TAILLANDIER, ONE CUP AND SAUCER APPARENTLY BY BINET AND THE REMAINING PIECES BY LEVÉ, VARIOUS INCISED MARKS

The scalloped bleu céleste ground edged with ciselé gilt garlands of flowers from each point a polychrome flower-spray extending, with gilt dentil rims, comprising:
A teapot and cover (théière calabre) (spout chipped, body cracked)
A sugar-basin and cover (pot à sucre Hébert)
A hot-milk jug and cover (pot à lait Hébert)
Six cups and saucer (gobelets calabre)
In a contemporary tooled and gilt morocco case with crowned monogram (9)

Lot Essay

For a déjeuner of this type see Préaud and Fäy-Hallé, fig. 76. These pieces are among the earliest Levé decorated. He arrived in 1754 and was to remain at Sèvres until 1805.
