A REGENCY EBONY-INLAID MAHOGANY LIBRARY TABLE
EARLY 19TH CENTURY

In the manner of George Smith, with rectangular top inlaid with stringing above a slide and two short drawers, the back fitted with two sham drawers, on twin bold C-scroll supports headed by scrolls and ending in paw feet on concave plinth--32¼in. (80.5cm.) high, 25in. (62.5cm.) wide, 24in. (60cm.) deep

This table is loosely based on a design for a 'Dressing Table' by George Smith in A Collection of Designs for Household Furniture, 1808, pl. 72. A similar example is illustrated in C. Musgrave, Regency Furniture, 1961, pl. 91.
