A LARGE GERMAN ART NOUVEAU TANKARD, maker's mark of Wurttembergische Metallwarenfabrik, circa 1908, gilt lined, baluster, on four grapevine feet, sides chased and applied in high and low relief with pan, Classical partly clad females, child, on naturalistic ground, applied with tree, the shoulder with grapevine, with angular vine handle with cluster joins and tendril thumbpiece, the romed cover engraved with German or Dutch inscriptions, one dated 1908; the remainder applied with grapevine and ribbons, with Bacchanel with lute across his lap and flinging a wine cup--I16½in. (41.9cm.) high
