In two parts, comprising a footed vessel of blown glass in dark red with electroformed copper exterior, the vessel engraved MICHAEL M. GLANCY 1983 and etched with the artist's monogram and 83, resting on plate glass base with electroformed copper, etched on both sides, the base engraved MICHAEL GLANCY 1985

Lot Essay

The vessel was purchased in 1983, and Glancy was commissioned to execute the base in 1985. This piece is considered "pivotal" by the artist because it was the first instance in which he created a "platform" to accompany one of his vessels.
