A CHIPPENDALE MAHOGANY SLANT-FRONT DESK, attributed to John Townsend, Newport Rhode Island, 1760-1780, the rectangular thumbmolded lid opening to a fitted interior with four valanced pigeonholes above four short drawers centering a stack of three short drawers over a case of four graduated thumbmolded long drawers above a molded base, on ogee bracket feet, appears to retain original brasses (missing prospect door, right rear foot replaced but original foot now included with lot)--41½in. high, 39½in. wide, 21in. deep
