The circular glazed dial door enclosing a white-painted dial with Arabic chapter ring above a tapering throat with conforming decorative eglomise panel and signed "Willard's Patent" in banner flanked by conforming pierced brass spandrels above a box base with eglomise panel door depicting figure of Commerce in horse-drawn charriot with American flag enclosed by border marked "COMMERCE," on a carved, gilt, tapered and pendant base
