Lot Essay

Known primarily for his additive constructions with everyday objects, Arman finds influence in many important twentieth century artistic movements including Dada, Surrealism and Construction. This unique and somewhat atypical work on x-ray film turns an element of ordinary life into a Surrealist composition, suggestive of the photograms of Man Ray and Moholy Nagy produced almost forty years earlier.
