Château Latour--Vintage 1966
Pauillac, 1er cru classé.
Top-shoulder level
"About the least ready, slowest maturing of all the '66s. 18 notes
since 1980: consistent, unyielding. Original opacity toned down a
little, plummy, starting to show some maturity; nose hard at first
but opens up richly, fine, firm fruit, spicy, cedary; touch of
ripe sweetness soon overtaken by dry, leathery tannins. Huge;
beefy; sinewy; full of fruit. Great length; unready. Needs at least
10 years and will surely last another 50." JMB
