A SWEDISH ROCOCO WALNUT FRUITWOOD AND PARQUETRY COMMODE
MID-18TH CENTURY, STAMPED N.C.L.

With serpentine moulded crossbanded top above a dressing slide and three long drawers fitted with pierced foliate pulls and lockplate, the sides similarly veneered, the apron fitted with a rocaille mount, on short cabriole legs with scrolling sabots--34½in. (87.5cm.) high, 48¼in (128.5cm.) wide, 24in. (61cm.) deep

The stamp is that of Christian Linning, master in 1744, who died in 1779. This commode relates to a number of others by Linning which are illustrated in M. Lagerquist, Rokokomöbler. figs. 9-18 and 25-26. The escutcheons in particular recur regularly on Linning's case furniture.
