A PAIR OF PARIS OCTAGONAL TWO-HANDLED VASES
Circa 1850
Each with gilt branch handles extending the height of the vase, one painted with a Chinese nobleman, the other with his companion, seated in a tropical garden viewed through a pagoda-roofed arch enriched in gilt and surmounted by masks of Comedy and Tragedy, reserved on the ground decorated in undergalze blue and enriched in coloured enamels and gilt with flowering branches, a serpent and a bird
