The information I have is that the Rebel forces occupy about the same relative position between the Big Black and Pearl River, that they have done for the last six months. Brig. Genl. Hawkins at Goodrich's Landing has been quite alarmed and sent down...for large reinforcements, stating that...16,000 men are marching to attack him...If you do not decide to make the Expedition to Fort Advance...you can come up with Gresham's Brigade as soon as practicable...There is no special hurry..."
