Adlard 1853-1865. 16 vols. bound in 32, folio, dark green crushed Jansenist morocco, spines gilt-lettered, brown morocco doublures with gilt and inlaid green morocco laurel wreath cornerpieces enclosing the roses of York and Lancaster in white and red morocco, gilt thistle and rose tooling, the upper doublures inset with a circular colored portrait miniature of Shakespeare, the lower doublures with his coat-of arms in orange, yellow and black onlaid morocco tooled in silver, pale blue satin brocade liners with a floral design in silver and green, g.e., by BARRIE, cloth, velour-lined slipcases (rubbed), small abraded spot to lower cover of vol. V-I, a few raised bands very lightly scuffed, spines uniformly faded to gray-green, occasional light foxing to half-titles. LIMITED EDITION, no. 83 of 150 copies signed by the printer and editor, edited by James O. Halliwell, etchings and wood-engravings by Frederick William Fairholt, facsimiles of titles, signatures, etc. With an autograph letter signed by the editor, 22 December 1866, one page, 8vo, bound in at front of vol. I-I.
