Of rectangular shape with rounded corners decorated in Rimpa style with a red lacquer ground bordered by thick clouds of silver and gold or nashiji and gold and silver kirigane and with two cranes of mother-of-pearl applied to a hill of pewter with green lacquer pines, the cloud bands and red lacquer continued on the sides; the interior of the box decorated with silver waves copied from a design by Ogata Korin on a nashiji ground and fitted with an inkstone and gilt-metal circular mizuire, the base roiro and the rims silver
