The center plate is iron and is pierced with a design of a dragon in waves. The surface is inlaid with gold details and the plate is laid against a gold ground beneath. The frame is copper. The ends are decorated in a woodgrain and checkerboard pattern of shakudo and copper. The back of the frame is carved with wavy lines which cover most of the plate. There is also a Kaga style flush inlay rebus at one end which reads Fuji--length 9.6cm., thickness 6.25mm.

This Hizen-style iron plate was mounted in its Kaga-style frame sometime after its date of manufacture. It demonstrates the respect which was afforded Hizen workmanship in the early Edo period.
