Lot Essay

The Mosle catalogue attributes this kozuka to Goto Tokujo, the fifth Shirobei mainline master of the Goto school. Dr. Sato and the N.B.T.H.K. merely attribute the piece to Ko-Goto. It was certainly manufactured around the time of Tokujo and demonstrates the Momoyama formal style.
