AN ISHIGURO SCHOOL KOZUKA
EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1860), SIGNED ISHIGURO MASACHIKA WITH KAO

The shakudo nanako plate is decorated in relief with three formal crests of shrine amulets (mamori) belonging to the Tachibana family, daimyo of Yanagawa in Mutsu Province. The polished frame is shakudo--length 9.8cm., thickness 6.25mm.

Lot Essay

Ishiguro Masachika worked circa 1850-1875. He was a student of Ishiguro Masatsune I (1760-1829) and of Ishiguro Masahiro (fl. circa 1850). His work is rare.
