AN ISE SENGO TANTO
MID-NAMBOKUCHO PERIOD (CIRCA 1360), SIGNED MURAMASA

Configuration (sugata): hira-zukuri with tri-bevelled back (mitsu-mune); length (nagasa): 9 sun, 3 bu (28.4cm.); curvature (sori): almost none.
Forging pattern (jihada): an elegant masame mokume.
Tempering pattern (hamon): shallow notare.
Point (boshi): Jizo with long kaeri.
Tang (nakago). Shape (keitai): tanago-bara; file marks (yasurime): new (kiri-yasuri); end (nakagojiri): iriyamagata; holes (mekugi-ana): two; signature (mei): Muramasa.

Shirasaya with attestation by Sato Kanzan.

Accompanied by a tokubetsu kicho token certificate issued by the N.B.T.H.K., no. 38310, dated Showa 34 (1959).
