A GOLD-MOUNTED CARNELIAN VINIAGRETTE, A SWISS GOLD AND ENAMEL VINIAGRETTE AND AN INDIAN DIAMOND-SET GOLD AND ENAMEL SNUFF BOX
THE FIRST PROBABLY ENGLISH, CIRCA 1790; THE SECOND CIRCA 1820
The first of oval form, with brown carnelian base and hinged cover, the interior compartment with hinged openwork laurel and acanthus scroll cover, apparently unmarked--1 3/8in. (3.5cm.) long; the second of oval form, with engine-turned base, the sides set with a band of turquoise beads, the hinged cover set with an enamel plaque with a flower basket, enclosed by a foliate scroll band, the interior compartment with pierced foliate scroll hinged cover, apparently unmarked--1 1/2in. (3.8cm.) long; the square snuff box set with red, blue, green and white foliate decoration on the sides, with similar decoration enclosing a circular cartouche with birds and foliage on the base, the hinged domed cover with similar foliate bands enclosing a flowerhead set with flat-cut diamonds, apparently unmarked--1 1/8in.
