Lot Essay

Muttoni received his nickname because of his ability to restore and copy old paintings. In Padovanino's studio he worked closely with Pietro Liberi and Girolamo Forabosco. He worked principally in Venice and is mentioned as a member of the Fraglia dei Pittori Veneziani from 1629-1639
