Lot Essay
The present lot is sold with a letter from Dr. E. Hubala, dated Munich March 3, 1992, in which he notes that the composition of the present lot is based on Carl Loths's painting in the Anton-Ulrich-Museum, Braunschweig (130 x 170cm.). Furthermore he suggests that Rottmayr may have painted the present lot while with Loth in Venice before 1687 or in the early 1690s
