The large, rectangular box with rounded corners decorated in gold and silver hiramaki-e, takamaki-e, kirigane, nashiji and gold and silver foil with the 'Three Friends', pine, plum and bamboo, growing beside a flowing stream, the scene continued on the sides of the box, and the whole applied with silver and gold foil Hisamatsu mon against the dense nashiji ground, the interior fitted with a removable tray of nashiji matching the interior of the box, silver ring fittings applied with the Hisamatsu mon- 14 x 12 1/8 x 8 3/8 in. (35.5 x 31 x 21.2 cm.), crack, wear and some losses
