GAGE, THOMAS, Major General, British Commander-in-Chief in America (1763-1775). Letter signed ("Thos. Gage") to Grey Cooper, Secretary of the Treasury, New York, 23 February 1767. One page, folio, extreme left hand edge a bit irregular. Concerning the account for the support of the British garrison: "Conformable to what I mention to you...I...Transmit you Messrs. Walls & Delancey's Receipt for a Quantity of Provisions received by them from the Crown in New York Department [and accounts of]....Messrs Drummond & Franks late Contractors for Victualling His Majesty's Forces in North America... [etc.], which Papers You will be pleased to lay before the Lords Commissioners of His Majesty's Treasury...."
