THE RARE PUBLISHER'S PROSPECTUS OR SALESMAN'S DUMMY FOR THE FIRST (TRADE) EDITION, consisting of preliminary leaves, selections from the text, representative illustrations, publisher's advertisements, sheets at end for subscribers' names and orders, the two binding samples (backstrips: half morocco and "library style, calf effect") mounted on inside front cover, and printed note on front free endpaper explaining the binding samples (offset on front free endpaper and following blank from the samples, as usual); with the single imprint on title-page; pasted to inside rear cover is a printed publisher's announcement, "Mark Twain's Works. Price-List"; laid in at rear is a publisher's announcement for Following the Equator, 4 pp., 4to, leaflet. There is also a picture of Mark Twain and his family aboard a steamer at Seattle; neither were republished in the book."
