A LOUIS XVI ORMOLU-MOUNTED TULIPWOOD AND MARQUETRY COMMODE À VANTAUX
THIRD QUARTER 18TH CENTURY

With shaped rectangular grey and brown mottled marble top above a central frieze drawer and a cupboard door inlaid with ribbon-tied and tasselled swags suspending a sheath of wheat flanked by a pair of rounded doors similarly inlaid with classical flower-filled vases with shaped apron and square block feet-38½in. (97cm.) high, 55in. (138cm.) wide, 19in. (48cm.) deep

The inlaid decoration to the front and sides is strongly reminiscent of other works by Nicolas Petit, notably two secrétaires sold Sotheby's London, 15 June 1990, lot 68 and 30 November 1990, lot 178.
