AN IRON TSUBA
EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1700), SIGNED SHUSHIN SAKU
The iron plate is pierced to form two interlocking jewels (tama). The surface of the plate has a fine wood grain (mokume) and hammered texture. The kozuka hitsu has a shakudo sekigane--height 7.9cm., width 7.3cm., thickness 5.25mm.
