Configuration (sugata): with longitudinal ridge line (shinogi-zukuri), tri-bevelled back (mitsu-mune) and medium point (chu-kissaki); length (nagasa): 1 shaku, 4 sun, 4 bu (52.8cm.); curvature (sori): koshi-zori of 0.8 cm.; increase in width of blade (fumbari): 0.8 cm.
Forging pattern (jihada): rough wood grain (itame).
Tempering pattern (hamon): irregular invections (gonome) in nie and with 'swept sands' (sunagashi) and loose clouds of nie.
Point (boshi): fully tempered (ichimai).
Tang (nakago). Shape (keitai): wide, tapering and suriage; file marks (yasurime): inverted V (takanoha); holes (mekugi-ana): one; signature (katanamei): turned over (orikaeshi-mei) Izumi (no) Kami Kanesada.
