BERLIN, CIRCA 1912, MAKER'S MARK OF VOLLGOLD & SOHN

Of globular form, the lower body chased with flutes below an applied beaded band, chased above with bands of interlaced curves and flowers on a matted ground, with ivory scroll handle and acanthus scroll spout, the hinged cover with silver beading on a matted ground below a fluted calyx, with ivory finial, engraved under the base with the monogram WR and crown, date 1912, and weight 569 Gr., marked under base--10in. 25 1/2in. long

Lot Essay

Part of a tea service by Vollgold & Sohn, Hermann Wilm and Gebr. Friedlander, of which the coffee pot, tea kettle, sugar bowl and cream jug remain in the Imperial Collection at Huis Doorn (Kaiserliches Gold und Silber, op. cit. where the tea kettle is illustrated, no. 85).
