Lot Essay

In an interview with Charles Aronson, Miss Frishmuth noted that the 19in. size of Sweet Grapes was conceived in 1922 and the lifesize version in 1924. An example of the latter was exhibited at the Grand Central Art Gallery in 1928 where it was awarded the Irving T. Bush Memorial Prize. The model was subsequently given the first award of the Council of American Artist Societies in 1966.
