Federal Reserve Notes, Five, Ten, Twenty, Fifty, One-Hundred Dollars (Fr. 836,896,956,1016,1076), Richmond District, a face and back Proof of each, all on cardboard except the Fifty Dollar back which appears to be on India paper mounted on cardboard, the red E0000000A serial numbers and seals are pasted down on the partially finished faces to complete the design, a note at the bottom of the frame reads, "DIE-PROOF IMPRESSIONS OF THE FACES AND BACKS OF FEDERAL RESERVE NOTES, FOR WILLIAM J. MARTIN, CONFIDENTIAL SECRETARY TO SECRETARY OF THE TREASURY, WITH THE COMPLIMENTS OF THE DIRECTOR OF THE BUREAU OF ENGRAVING AND PRINTING, WASHINGTON, D.C., APRIL 9, 1915," extremely rare, as are all Federal Proofs, and of great historical significance as the origins of our present paper money, several with slight discoloration, otherwise pristine and as issued
