1912 RED SOX WORLD SERIES MEDAL
A rare 1912 World Series champion player award for Larry Pape, pitcher for the Boston Red Sox. The fourteen carat medal was originally designed to be worn on a fob by Frank Gendreau, a Boston jeweler. The design features crossed bats over four bases and the date - 1912, with a pearl which may have originally been a diamond. The red enamel border contains gold lettering Boston Red Sox Baseball Club - World's Champions. On the back is inscribed Presented to Larry Pape by Boston American B.B. Club in a victor's wreath, and hangs from a gold baseball. Included with the lot is a photograph of Tris Speaker wearing his medal on a fob, and a large mounted photograph of members of the Red Sox team and others including the designer Frank Gendreau. (3)
