Each tortoise shell brush holder of cylindrical form set on a separate but attached cylindrical base, each lacquered in gold on the exterior with views of Mt. Fuji, one showing the mountain from a bay of boats and cranes and one through dense branches of flowering plum and pines, portions of the cranes and the plum blossoms carved from the tortoise shell of the vase- 5 1/4 in. (13.3 cm.) high
