A PAIR OF LARGE IMARI VASES AND COVERS
MEIJI PERIOD (CA. 1900)
Each of ovoid form rising from a short foot to a cylindrical rim and surmounted by a high, domed cover with flat-top knop, decorated in brightly colored enamels of yellow, blue, red, white and black with large shaped panels of figures at a concert party one one side and with samurai on the other, the panels reserved on a field of dragon medallions and formal foliate roundels or tomo-e-shaped crescents, the covers matching- 35 1/8 in. (89.5 cm.) high, one base restored, knop restored, hairline body cracks (2)
