With a domed rectangular hinged top above a conforming serpentine case fitted with handles above a canted rectangular ormolu-moulded top and a conforming shaped frieze fitted with a drawer on cabriole legs with scrolling sabots and a shaped X-stretcher centering a flaming urn--43in. (109.2cm.) high, 33½in. (85.1cm.) wide, 24¾in. (63.5cm.) deep

Lot Essay

Jean-Baptiste Befort (1783-1840), known as Befort Père, was known to specialize in the making of "Boulle" furniture (see Denise Ledoux-Lebard, Les Ébéniste du XIX Si©ecle, 1984, p. 48).
