A PIECED AND APPLIQUED QUILTED COTTON COVERLET, American, possibly Southern, c. 1840, worked in twelve blocks of pieced, appliqued, embroidered and lightly stuffed blocks of tulip in worked in pink, green, red, scene at plain woven solid and printed cotton calicoes, with pink and green staggered swag appliqued border, all on cream ground, with palmetto quilted border with rope and rosette quilted sashing, the blocks with diamond quilting--100in. x 86in.
