TWO SILVER TANKARDS, each bearing marks for London, the first chased later, tapering cylindrical, two applied reeded bands, chased and engraved with large flowering foliage and scrolls on matted ground, centering cartouche engraved BEEF AND LIBERTY, with hat above and grille below, decorated handle with openwork thumbpiece to the decorated flat topped cover--1791--6¾in. (17.1cm.) high, the other, baluster, with applied girdle, later flat chased and engraved with scalework, foliage and rocaille, centering one side later presentation inscription, the other with crest, later added spout, the multi scroll handle with thumbpiece to the hinged molded low domed cover--1751, maker's mark of Shaw & Preist--7¾in.
