The rectangular top flanked by two hinged rectangular leaves with rounded corners above a conforming apron fitted with a single drawer with cockbeaded surround and similar opposing sham, on four ring-turned and waterleaf-carved legs terminating in detailed brass castors, the interior of the drawer with printed paper label of "M. Allison"

Lot Essay

Michael Allison worked exclusively in New York City at various locations along Vesey Street during the first half of the 19th century. He is known as one of the City's most inventive cabinetmakers and is distinguished as the maker of the largest group of surviving labelled furniture from any New York City shop during his time.
