A GOLD-COUCHED BLUE-GROUND CHAOFU, PROBABLY LATE 19TH CENTURY, the robe worked on the front and back on the upper half with four contorted dragons surrounding a flaming pearl, within cloud whorls and above the terrestrial diagram, the gathered skirt similarly worked with a line of small dragon roundels above a band of confronted dragons encirling the hem, some loose threads; together with a mandarin's red and white silk conical hat, with gold finial possibly denoting an 8th degree official, with glass plume-holder simulating jadeite and peacock feather; and a mandarin's court necklace, damaged, with coral and glass beads and fittings simulating jadeite and pink tourmaline, the hat and necklace together in a fitted circular box--the robe 57 in. long (3)
