Lot Essay

The original plans, progress sketches and overall view of the iron bridge over the Volga about 24 kilometers upstream from the town of Syzran, at one of the river's widest points. Construction work started in June 1875 and was completed in 1880, employing about 2000 workers under the direction of Prof. Bemlinskii, at a cost to the Orenburg Railway Company of 4,730 rubles.
