Lot Essay

The voyage to Tobolsk in order to observe the passage of Venus before the Sun, this account describes the people of Russia and their customs, the geography and natural history. The second volume contains the first translation of S.P. Krasheninnikov's "Voyage en Sibérie, contenant la Description du Kamchatka". According to Brunet 20770 map 10 of the Vosges was issued later, so is often not included in the atlas. Russica C493.
