Gunfight in a Bar
Details
WEEGEE (1899-1968)
Gunfight in a Bar
Gelatin silver print. 1944. Signed, dated and inscribed To Kay Cremin in ink on the recto; notated ? gunfight in a bar; fightin [sic] over a woman. This Portugese woman wouldn't let him go, wouldn't even let the cop tear her away when they put him in the ambulance. Sure, he died. They weren't letting any press on the scene, so I crawled in a back window and took it from up top - in an unknown in pencil and Weegee the Famous and Weegee 5 Market Place stamps on the verso.
10½ x 13in. (26.7 x 33cm.)
