Judging by the scene, this photograph could likely have been made in Katwyk, Holland, a site favored by Stieglitz and other members of his circle.
Exhibition prints in this format are very rare. Examples exist in the Stieglitz Collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (see cat. nos. 386-391, 394 and 398; The Collection of Alfred Stieglitz); The Samuel Wagstaff Collection at the J. Paul Getty Museum and in a Private Collection, New York. No other print of this image is known to exist in this format.
