The aoi-mokko lacquer guard fitted with with flat silver mimi, seppa-dai and ryu-hitsu; the obverse decorated in fundame, usu-nashiji and hiramakie with colored horn and mother-of-pearl inlays depicting a boy and man with a kite; the reverse, in similar techniques, decorated with sparrows amidst flowering vines; signed on a mother-of-pearl plaque, Masamichi; some minor chips to the edges--3 7/8 in.
