20TH CENTURY, SIGNED KEN (OKADA KENZO, b. 1948)
The circular cup set on a high, recessed ring foot decorated on the straight exterior walls with a checkerboard design rendered in gilt and glazes of green, purple, green, yellow and orange against the grey body of the vessel which is impressed with a minute checkerboard pattern, the whole covered by a glossy transparent glaze, the interior of the cup covered with thick and glossy white glaze with extensive crackle, in wood box inscribed Guinomi Kenzo (Sake cup, Kenzo) and sealed- 2 1/8 in. (5.3 cm.) high
