QIANLONG SEAL MARKS IN GILT AND OF THE PERIOD
Made in the shape of a Tibetan Lama's milk-tea pot, each tall cylinder encircled by four rounded bands painted black and outlined in iron-red, with a loop handle molded with archaistic designs terminating at the body in a dragon's head, the curved spout attached to the body by a scrolled strut and formed as the head and neck of an archaistic bird molded at the base with the forequarters of a phoenix, the cloud-shaped projection rising from the rim painted in iron-red with a bat suspending a ribbon-tied wan emblem above a spray of lotus scroll within a molded outer border, all reserved on a rich gold ground, one with body crack and chip to spout--18 3/8 and 19in.
